18+ Age Policy
Gambling at ZelvorianluxeLodge is strictly reserved for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. This is not only a legal requirement under Australian Capital Territory legislation, but it is also a fundamental part of our responsibility to protect young and vulnerable people from the potential harms associated with gambling.
How We Enforce Our Age Policy
- All guests wishing to access our casino gaming areas must present valid photo identification proving they are aged 18 or over.
- Accepted forms of identification include an Australian driver's licence, passport, or government-issued proof-of-age card.
- Our staff are trained and empowered to request identification from any guest who appears to be under 25 years of age.
- Any individual found to be under the legal age limit will be asked to leave the gaming area immediately, and entry will be refused.
- We do not permit minors to loiter in or near gaming areas, and parents or guardians are responsible for supervising children in all non-gaming areas of our hotel.
If you are aware of or suspect that a minor has accessed our gaming facilities, please notify a member of our staff immediately. We take all such reports seriously and act swiftly to address any concerns.
Recognising Problem Gambling
Problem gambling can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or experience. It can develop gradually and may be difficult to recognise in yourself or in someone you care about. We want to help you identify the warning signs early so that you or your loved ones can get the support needed as soon as possible.
Signs of Problem Gambling
You or someone you know may be experiencing problem gambling if any of the following signs are present:
- Spending more money on gambling than you can afford to lose.
- Borrowing money or selling personal belongings to fund gambling activities.
- Feeling anxious, irritable, or restless when not gambling.
- Gambling to escape personal problems, stress, or negative emotions.
- Chasing losses by continuing to gamble in an attempt to win back money lost.
- Lying to friends, family members, or employers about the extent of your gambling.
- Neglecting work, study, family, or personal responsibilities because of gambling.
- Repeatedly attempting to cut down or stop gambling without success.
- Experiencing significant mood swings, depression, or anxiety linked to gambling outcomes.
- Thinking about gambling constantly, even when doing other activities.
If you recognise any of these signs in yourself or someone close to you, please know that you are not alone and that effective help is available. Speaking to someone is a courageous and important first step.
Self-Exclusion and Responsible Gambling Tools
ZelvorianluxeLodge offers a range of practical tools to help you stay in control of your gambling. We encourage all guests to make use of these tools as part of a responsible approach to gaming.
Self-Exclusion Program
If you feel that you need to take a break from gambling, our self-exclusion program allows you to voluntarily exclude yourself from our gaming facilities for a period of your choosing. During this period, you will not be permitted to access any gaming areas at ZelvorianluxeLodge. We take self-exclusion requests very seriously and will do everything within our power to enforce your decision respectfully and with sensitivity.
To apply for self-exclusion, please speak with one of our Responsible Gambling Officers at the front desk or gaming services area, or contact us directly using the details provided on this website. Self-exclusion can also be arranged through the ACT Gambling and Racing Commission's multi-venue exclusion scheme, which may cover multiple venues across the Australian Capital Territory.
Additional Responsible Gambling Tools
- Deposit and Spending Limits: Set personal limits on the amount you spend during your visit to help keep gambling within your budget.
- Time Limits: Ask our staff to remind you when a certain amount of time has passed while you are in our gaming areas.
- Reality Checks: Our team can provide regular check-ins to help you remain aware of how long you have been gambling and how much you have spent.
- Take a Break: You can ask to take a short-term break from gaming at any time. Our staff will support you with no questions asked.
- Cooling-Off Period: If you are unsure about self-exclusion but would like some time away, we can arrange a temporary cooling-off period to give you space to reflect.
- Access to Support Materials: Brochures, helpline cards, and other responsible gambling resources are available throughout our gaming areas and at the front desk.
All requests for self-exclusion or other responsible gambling tools are handled with the utmost discretion, compassion, and respect for your privacy. There is no shame in seeking help — it is a sign of strength.
